The optimal, hot and Mediterranean climate favors the cultivation of thermophilic truffle varieties, especially the most popular and most expensive of all black truffle types – the Perigord truffle.

Every production sells out immediately. It is not possible to meet the current demand, which is why it is to be expected that the price per kilo will continue to rise sharply.

Due to the immense demand for luxurious food, the production and price of black truffles is increasing almost astronomically. The sought-after truffle plantations also increase value: If you are the owner of one of these plantations, this increases the value of your property immensely. Brokers report to us increases in the value of fincas on Mallorca with truffle plantations of up to 20% added value compared to comparable fincas without plantations on the unused areas.

More and more buyers are looking for that “certain something”: A finca with its own truffle plantation offers your buyer exactly that – the investment in your own plantation usually pays for itself through the direct increase in value alone, so you take little risk.

Happy is the one who gets to be a truffle farmer! The truffles need lime-rich, stony soils where there is no waterlogging – optimal conditions on Mallorca! Truffles grow primarily in the upper, very warm layers of soil at a maximum depth of 5 to 50 cm.

That’s another advantage, because most fincas on Mallorca don’t have any more depth to offer, and that’s why truffle culture is absolutely ideal in Mallorca.

The advantage for landowners is that truffle culture requires relatively little care compared to many other crops: in principle, no soil cultivation is necessary, the truffle trees do not require any pesticides, so it is basically ecological and cost-effective to run a truffle plantation on your finca in Mallorca.

Of course, the weeds should be removed, but for most fincas this does not require any additional effort as this is done annually anyway.

The harvest is done by truffle dogs. You can hire them to search for truffles; as the owner of a truffle plantation, you don’t have to worry about it yourself.
